SoundScreen Acoustic Insulation – Is it worth it?

2023-02-25 09:10:30
soundscreenblog

Acoustic insulation is used to reduce noise transmission between rooms and floors. It is generally used in internal walls, mid floors or external walls to create a quieter comfortable living space. It is also ideal to use around home theatres, bedrooms, bathrooms, laundries, home offices, kids rooms, games rooms or anywhere you want to isolate noise within your home.

Bradford's SoundScreen is high-density insulation which absorbs sound waves and reduces sound power from travelling one room to next. It does not soundproof a room but significantly reduce the effect of noise, creating more peaceful surroundings.

SoundScreen insulation has thermal properties as well - Higher the R-value, better the insulation property, ultimately increasing the energy efficiency of your home. It is made from 65% recycled glass, sand and other raw materials spun  together using world-class firberising technology.

What is acoustic insulation and how does it work?

Bradford’s SoundScreen Insulation is Australia’s most trusted insulation product to reduce noise transfer around home, with added thermal qualities.  A Few benefits include:

  • Reduction of noise transfer between rooms and external walls
  • Helps in isolating rooms for a quieter home
  • Provides additional benefit of thermal insulation
  • Limit noise transfer in multiple storey homes if installed between two floors
  • Low allergen Product – Approved by the National Asthma Council Sensitive Choice partner
  • Comes with 70-year product warranty

How safe is SoundScreen insulation and How to Install it?

CSR Bradford is approved insulation partner of the National Asthma Council Australia Sensitive Choice program and their products are suitable for use in homes of asthma and allergy sufferers. SoundScreen insulation is made from inert raw materials that are fire resistant, pose no risk of health to you or your family and does not encourage growth of insects or vermin.

It is recommended to use acoustic insulation in walls and mid-floors, the best time to install is at time of construction or during home renovations. It is possible to retrofit into existing internal and external walls, but this requires replacement of plasterboard; therefore a professional tradesman is recommended. To achieve greater noise reductions, we recommend replacing standard plasterboard with high-density acoustic plasterboard like Gyprock Soundcheck which can improve the performance by up to an additional 3RW.

SoundScreen insulation is also ideal for acoustically treating sheds, garages, workshops and other external structures to either keep sound in or out. If you've got an up-and-coming garage band practicing at your place, you should consider this option.
